The Belgian was speaking in an interview after he was unveiled by Inter Milan on Wednesday, June 29th, 2022. According to Lukaku, he has been in contact with the Milan coach, Inzaghi throughout his time at Chelsea.

It is a strong emotion, Inter has given me a lot and I want to do better than before. It is like coming home. I have been in contact with Inzaghi all season. I have already heard practically all of my companions, they are my brothers, and they pushed hard to get me back.

The 29-year-old had made it clear just two months after he joined Chelsea for a record transfer fee of €100 million that he wanted to return to the Serie A.

Lukaku was a key part of the Inter Milan team that won the Serie A title during the 2020/21 season. However, supporters of the club will hope he can replicate the same form when the new season starts.
