Arsenal defeat Barcelona in a friendly game ( Watch goals and highlights)

A game between Arsenal and Barcelona is always more than a football match between both teams because of the rivalry in the UEFA Champions League.

Arsenal came into this game following a defeat in their last pre-season game in the UEFA Champions League. The Gunners ended their pre-season tour in the United States in fine style defeating Barcelona in Los Angeles on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.

Arsenal had only beaten Barcelona once in their last nine attempts in the Champions League heading into the game so it was more like a revenge for the North London club. Robert Lewandowski opened the floodgate of the eight-goal thriller before Bukayo Saka equalised minutes later, Raphinha put Barcelona back in front before the halftime break, and former Chelsea man, Kai Havertz made it 2-2 to end the first 45 minutes.

A brace from Trossard in the second half saw Arsenal go up 4-2, former Manchester City player, Ferran Torres pulled one back for Barcelona. Fabio Vieria compounded the woes of Barcelona, the game ended 5-3.

Arsenal play Monaco in a midweek Emirates Cup tie on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, while Barcelona head to Texas for a pre-season Clasico against Real Madrid on Saturday.
